Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert
For many years, Prof. Dr. Lammert has provided the award and its previous representative, Förderverein Tanzkunst Deutschland, with his interest and support. Now, the Norbert-Lammert-Stiftung has again granted the dance award FUTURE with a donation.
From 1980 to 2017, he was member of the German Bundestag, and from the 18th of October to the 14th of October, he was president of the German Bundestag.
It is a great honour that the German Dance Award will be sponsored by someone so greatly valued in politics and in society.
On the initiative of the patron, the Norbert-Lammert-Foundation has decided to work with the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland to support projects that provide children and young people with special access to dance and the experience of dance.
This year, the Norbert-Lammert-Foundation has selected the Aachen-based association CulturBazar e.V. for funding.
CulturBazar e.V. has set itself the task of promoting the participation of all children and young people in dance in all its breadth. Margot Staerk and Yorgos Theodoridis realize projects in daycare centers and schools, cultural and social institutions and teach artistic dance in their own school.
CulturBazar e.V. also gives groups with a history of migration or refugee experiences the opportunity to get to know dance as a form of art and expression in dance projects. With its festival Auf dem Sprung - Junger Tanz im Dialog (On the Move - Young Dance in Dialogue), the association has created a platform for children and young people not only to present dance, but also to reflect on it in subsequent workshops and discover their own bodies as a medium of expression. In addition, CulturBazar e.V. brings dance to public and rural areas with the TanztheaterMobil project.
This special commitment to dance and the passionate work with children and young people is extraordinary and should be appropriately honored by the support of the Norbert Lammert Foundation.
