The German Dance Award is presented annually at a prestigious Dance Gala at the Aalto Theatre. From classical ballet to dance theatre and contemporary dance to urban dance - the Dance Gala presents dance in all its diversity. On the eve of the Dance Gala, the honourees take centre stage in a separate event. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Corona crisis, the 2020 honours event could only take place for invited guests.
This year, the Dance Gala will take place on 23 October 2021 and will be centred around the honouree Heide-Marie Härtel and the honourees Ursula Borrmann, Claire Cunningham and Adil Laraki.
Tickets will go on sale in the summer and will be available from the Ticket-Center in Essen.
The gala programme will also be published in the summer – but you can already look forward to a varied evening of dance!
The awards will be presented on the evening before the Dance Gala (on 22 October 2021) at a cultural salon in the ChorForum Essen. Unfortunately, this year's event will again be open to invited guests only.
